Redland District Swimming CarnivalCleveland Aquatic CentreWednesday 8th February 20129am – 3pmGeneral InformationThe Redland District Swimming Carnival will be held on Wednesday 8th February, 2011 using a time trial format. At the end of the heats for a given event, the fastest six names will be highlighted given they have bettered the Metropolitan East qualifying time. These children will compete for our District at the Regional Carnival which will be held at the Chandler Aquatic Centre on Tuesday, 28th February from 8am – 3.30pm. All substitutions should be sent to the program co-ordinator-Rodney Crowther (Redlands College, rcrowther@redlands.qld.edu.au) AWD Competitors: The Redland District AWD guidelines promote pathways for AWD competitors and therefore all schools are encouraged to nominate AWD competitors for this event. All AWD nominations should be sent attached to school nominations and should include-
Sequence of EventsThere will be five sessions of events on the day. The first event at the start of each of the first 4 sessions will be the 100m Open events. The Individual age groups will follow these: 10yr; 11yr; 12yr & 13yr. Session 1: Girls & Boys 10yr - 13yr 100m Breaststroke Session 2: Boys & Girls 10yr - 13yr 100m Freestyle Session 3: Girls & Boys 10yr - 13yr 100m Backstroke Session 4: Boys & Girls 10yr - 13yr 100m Butterfly Session 5: Boys & Girls 200m Individual Medleys 10yr – 13yr Officials Each school will be required to send 2 officials with their team. One will be the Team Manager and the other will be designated a role to aid with the smooth running of the carnival. This role could include: starter; marshal; check starter; judge; timekeeper. Levy Each competitor will be required to pay a levy of $6. This will cover pool entry, administration expenses and costs involved with the coordination of the carnival. Consent Forms:All competitors must complete a Parent Consent Form, Authority to Share Form and Medical Details Form. These forms are to be handed in to the recorders tent prior to the start of competition. Please clearly mark the school and place in alphabetical order. Please note that students are not able to compete unless these forms have been handed in. District Team Selection:Children must compete at the carnival to be considered for selection at this level. Only children competing at regional or state carnival in another sport or are ill or injured on these dates and have been selected as part of their school teams can apply for special consideration. Applications for consideration must be received in writing and signed by school principal by 3:30pm Friday 4th February to carnival convenor-Richard Kneipp (Cleveland State School, rknei2@eq.edu.au). Students selected for the District team must first meet regional qualifying distances and times. They will receive appropriate paperwork on the day of the carnival. Please inform these parents that it is recommended that these students purchase uniforms and hand in paperwork at the carnival. ProgramA copy of the program will be sent to schools. It will be each school’s responsibility to distribute programs as they will not be available on the day.

Pre Carnival MeetingA meeting will be held at Alexandra Hills State Primary School on Monday 6th February at 3.45pm.
